I loved this book so much!!! It helps guide one's mindset and spirit with a great narrative style similar to that of Rich Dad Poor Dad to accomplish great things in life. The Narrative provides key events and settings that almost all College students could relate to and learn from. The book is full of very inspiring quotes that emphasize many keys to succeed. The book is very engaging. I heard myself giggle while reading it. If everybody would read this book the world would definitely be a better place.
I bought this book for my 19 year old son and decided to read it before giving it to him. I liked it but I'm not sure he will even attempt to read it. Very easy and quick read. Good info. Just not sure my son will relate to the concept of the time warp, but I'm going to give it a shot!
WUC was simply amazing! The way numerous valuable concepts are woven throughout the novel with a creative twist that's sure to speak to the minds of the emerging college student only speaks to the authors talent. Definitely, a resource I wish was available during my collegiate experience!
If you haven't heard this man speak before you do not know what your missing. It is equally as inspiring at it is entertaining. Unlike so many speakers who bore you and lecture you. These engagements are filled with fun and laughter and rules for the road. I brought two copies for my college aged younger siblings, I have already read half of it and my younger sibs NEED THIS BOOK!... I type this as one of them is laying on my couch doing nothing with his day off work accept playing video games. This story yet informative style is reminiscent of Rich Dad Poor Dad except this narrative is more relevant to the college age and high-school aged reader. I can't wait for the sequels as the author and chase ages, I am hoping we can look forward to a narrative that will follow and help leads this generation.
I am a third year university student studying education. This book is a required course reading in our capstone curriculum. This book has prompted me to reflect back on my college career. I honestly wish someone would have handed me this as a high school senior. I believe the information inside is so valuable and easily applied into anyone's lives! Getting past the sometimes cringey (but mostly humorous) speaking style of the characters, the book confronts head on responsibility of actions, controlling fear, building confidence, and so much more. Truly an excellent read for anyone.
This is a very good book for college students and high school students. It makes you think of the purpose of being in a college, the impact it can have on one's self, and how participating with an organization can truly impact your life. The reflections were such a good addition to the book it gave me time to think about my college life and how I can implement Chase's lessons in my life. If you are looking for a short read that will motivate you this is it! I read it in less than a day.
I used this book in the First Year Seminar course that I teach for first semester freshman in college. It was a huge hit. The students could relate to the characters in the story and the book was very easy to read. Darryl Bellamy Jr. does an outstanding job inspiring students to accept personal responsibility for themselves and to look at the bigger picture when it comes to their college experience. This would also be a great book for high school seniors contemplating college.
After I attended the AVID Conference, I began looking for books to inspire my students to succeed. This book will do just that. Written in a very easy to read, matter of fact tone, Waking Up Chase is the college version of Its A Wonderful Life. Helping college student navigate their new world is challenging, and this book will definitely help. I am going to recommend my 9th graders make a 4year plan in preparation for college as well.
Love, love, loved this book! This book is an easy, relatable read. I initially thought that this book would speak to high school and college students such as my little brother, but as I started reading it myself I soon realized anyone at any place in their life could relate. I loved the reflections which allowed you to pause and think about what you have learned and how to apply it in your on life. This book helps you to see that every decision you make (or lack there of) will not only affect you in the long run, but they all connect. I highly recommend this book to anyone, at any age, looking to awaken their potential (or someone else's), and will be purchasing a few copies!
